How a New Cenozoic Geology and Glacial History Paradigm Explains Anomalous Monongahela River Drainage Basin Topographic Map Evidence, PA, WV and MD, USA

چکیده
A recently proposed and fundamentally different Cenozoic geology glacial history paradigm (new paradigm) is used to explain previously reported other anomalous Monongahela River drainage basin system evidence (observable on detailed topographic maps in the form of barbed tributaries, asymmetric tributary basins, large abandoned meander cutoffs, poorly explained transverse drainages drainages). The north-oriented according accepted (accepted originated during preglacial times was blocked by continental icesheets today’s Ohio River. Based Missouri map new predicts developed immense prolonged south- southwest-oriented icesheet melt water floods. also caused regional uplift created a deep “hole” which thick located forced south-oriented floods flow southwest directions along “hole’s” southeast rim (now River-Atlantic Ocean divide) until continued valley headward erosion from space being opened up melting reversed direction create system. This interpretation explains suggests while melted not time as has been commonly reported.

A New Hydrological Method for Estimating the River Bed and Drainage Basin Components of Erosion and Suspended Sediment Fluxes in River Basins
This paper uses the results of river suspended sediment flux (SSF) analysis to propose a new hydrological method for quantitatively estimating the river bed and drainage basin (sheet erosion, rill and gully erosion) components of total erosion intensity in river basins. The suggested method is based on the establishment of the functional power connection between mean monthly water discharges (W...
متن کاملApplication of PALSAR-2 remote sensing data for structural geology and topographic mapping in Kelantan river basin, Malaysia
Natural hazards of geological origin are one of major problem during heavy monsoons rainfall in Kelantan state, peninsular Malaysia. Several landslides occur in this region are obviously connected to geological and topographical features, every year. Satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data are particularly applicable for detection of geological structural and topographical features in tro...

(2) The development of Mojave River drainage in co...
